Quicksand

We started out this morning with the direction to go towards the light. That should have been a sign or omen right there. We headed out of the basketball court and went towards the light of the sandy volleyball court. Half off us stood on the line on one side of the court and the other on the other side. We were to sprint towards the net and back again as many times as we could in a minute. This brings me to my rant about people who run on beaches. I don't know why or how people find running on the beach enjoyable. You get sand in odd places, running on pavement is hard enough and now you're running in a substance that tries to swallow your feet, not to mention the possible sand flies lurking in every grain. Ack! After we finished our first minute of sprints it was time for our beloved "recovery jog" around the court with lunges and squats intermittently. While "recovering" Ms. Radio Diva offers me some words of wisdom saying, "It only get's worse. But in a good way!" I later find out that even though we do all of this twice somehow this was us having it easy. After the sand pit we moved on to tire flipping and everyone's favorite burpees. It's pretty amazing to me that just 4 or so weeks ago I was doing modified burpees and now I can do the full on burpee and I feel strong doing it.

With only fifteen minutes left when we're already good and tired, of course that's the perfect time to do a mile or mile and a half run. I'm still sticking with the mile but I sure pushed myself today and shaved a minute and a half off of my a last one. Now it's time for a "recovery weekend".
